This arose from a) reading this article about how film schools teach screenwriters to fail the Bechdel test, b) TV tropes, in particular ‘men are generic, women are special’, c) an article I read a while ago about Warner Brothers allegedly considering auto-rejecting female-led scripts (not this article, but I can’t find the original.) Yes, I know I’m taking a very nuanced subject and reducing it to a small list of extremes I find annoying. Oh well.
